A tanker conveying 33000 litres of PMS has on Wednesday exploded on Magboro road along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, leaving no casualty.

The incident, which happened around 06:00 am, caused gridlock at Magboro, outward Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

It was gathered that firefighters have arrived at the scene of the fire outbreak.

The Southwest Zonal Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, explained that the cause of the fire outbreak was in the course of evacuation of the wreckage of the tanker.

“It fell off and landed on the asphalt which led to sparkling. With remnants of PMS, the sparks led to fire outbreak and spilling of the content into adjoining drainage and close by Gas Plant,” he added.

Meanwhile, the explosion has been contained to the carcass of the tanker without any casualty while the gas plant has been saved.
