The Lagos State government has revealed that during the aftermath of the EndSARS protest, the state lost vital public property with 20 parastatals’ assets, either stolen or destroyed.
Special Adviser to the Governor, Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO), Afolabi Ayantayo, said the office carried out on-the-spot assessment of destroyed and stolen assets of the state’s parastatals to determine the level of damage.
“The report has been forwarded to the governor. It is pertinent to mention that 20 parastatals were affected in varying degrees,” Ayantayo said.
“They include: Lekki Concession Company, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, Lagos State Fire Service, Lagos State Public Works Corporation, Lagos State Material Testing Laboratory, Lagos State Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Lagos Bus Service Limited, Lagos Television, Lagos Internal Revenue Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, Lagos State Agricultural, Inputs Supply Authority, Lagos State Multi-Door Courthouse, Citizens Mediation Centre, Ibeju-Lekki and Lagos State Resilience Office among others.
He also said the government had begun review of 54 obsolete parastatals’ laws across the state, saying the move was to raise the standard of parastatals’ performance and ensure they meet their service requirements in the 21st Century society.Follow us on social media
