Excitement for movie lovers as another intriguing action series debuts, El Candidato, debuts on Amazon Prime Video.
Created by Peter Blake, El Candidato is a Spanish TV series, El Candidato explores a narrative on espionage, showing real issues and problems that affect Mexico, currently. It tells the story of drug trafficking in Mexico City, where the protagonist, Wayne Addison (Purefoy) returns to defeat his former friend and the most important drug trafficker in the country, Rafael Bautista (Cosio).
Starring industry pros, James Purefoy, Eréndira Ibarra, José María de Tavira, the narrative is greatly laced with jaw-dropping, heart racing action scenes that aptly describe the reality of the story being explored.
Pros of El Candidato
El Candidato has many twists and turns that will leave you surprised. In the series, CIA officer Wayne Addison and newbie Isabel try to catch the most powerful drug-lord of Mexico, Rafael Bautista. However, Bautista has him in his fist. There’s something weird going on, and you’d suspect so, but wouldn’t be able to pinpoint what.
By the time you’re able to process all of it, there’s more information, more and more people get involved, and then El Candidato continues on a climax-suspending journey.
It also features a rich cast. El Candidato has some great characters, and you see them evolving, for better or worse, throughout the show. Along with character growth, there are some great acting chops from everyone. Even characters who are lesser-seen, such as Agustín Romero, are great and it leaves you with a smile on your face.
El Candidato is a must-watch if you’re craving some fast-paced CIA action. The characters are great and you’d actually root for a few of them. It has a fair amount of twists and turns which keep you on your toes and make you question what’s going to happen next.
The series was initially announced in 2018 as one of the first Amazon Originals in Mexico, made in co-production with Televisa Alternative Originals (TAO), with whom the platform had ran an agreement for various titles.
It was released on Amazing Prime Video on July 17th, 2020.
