MoJ Conducts Virtual Training for Police Prosecutors in Lagos

To keep improving the criminal prosecutions at the Magistrate Court, The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in collaborated with the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Command rounds off three days training for Police Prosecutors on “Case preparations and Trial Advocacy”.

The training, which ran from Wednesday May 27 to Friday 29, had in attendance the AG Lagos State, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo; SAN, FCIArb, CP. Hakeem Odumosu represented by DCP. Yetunde Longe; Ms. T.K. Shitta-Bey SG/PS Lagos MoJ; Mrs. Olayinka Adeyemi DPP Lagos; and DSP. Yetunde Cardosso OC Legal Lagos State Command.

The facilitators include: Mr. Babatunde Sunmonu Assistant Director, Mr. Adebayo Haroun, Assistant Director, Mrs. Iyabo Oshodi Deputy Director among other prosecutors within the DPP’s office.

According to the MoJ, the training is on the quest to improve the manner police prosecutors handle criminal matters, then ensure the smooth and speedily administration of criminal justice.

There were virtually about 150 prosecutors at the training. Some of the topics attended to are: the techniques of drafting charges, handling pre-trial and trial objections, trial advocacy, handling child, and vulnerable witnesses among others.
