Lagos Assembly Committee on Public Private Partnership, PPP has advised Lagos State Metropolitan Transport Agency, LAMATA, Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, Lagos State University, LASU and Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency, LASIMRA to prioritise projects’ proposals to ensure that the involvement of private sectors in the government projects is aimed at public benefits in the form of management expertise and monetary contributions.
Hon. Saa’ad Olumoh, Chairman of the Committee while addressing the agencies in a fact finding meeting on Tuesday said that as part of it’s oversight functions and jurisdiction; it is imperative for the Committee to evaluate projects, proposals; ongoing and default emanating from each agency.
He noted that the essence of the meeting is to provide support and advice the agencies through the public private partnership process by evaluating and prioritising project proposals submitted to them.
The Committee therefore charged the agencies to develop operating guidelines, procedures and present documents of project approvals, agreements that falls under PPP to-date to be forwarded to the House for verification.
In response, the agencies expressed that they would work hand in hand with the Committee to ensure the need to operate within the confines of the law.
