Household property and goods worth several millions of Naira were lost today, as an intense fire burned a three-storey-building in the Island area of the state. No lives were lost in the incident.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) acknowledged that the fire which broke out at a No. 62 Iga Iduganran Street started from the second floor of the building, due to a voltage issue.
The LASEMA Boss, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu said that combined with the efforts of the Lagos State Fire Service and the Federal Fire service, the fire was extinguished with no casualties.
He said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was caused by voltage surge when power supply was restored within the area.
“Unfortunately, it appears that goods of significant commercial value have been destroyed by the inferno.
“In addition to the aforementioned, NEMA, NSCDC, LNSC and Police are also responders at the incident scene working together to secure the scene and forestall any secondary incident.”
