The Lagos State Government has announced that it will shut the Third Mainland Bridge on Saturday.
The government explained that the closure was to enable the contractors to remove the equipment used during the rehabilitation of the bridge.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, in a statement on Wednesday said the closure would last for 24 hours between Friday midnight and Saturday midnight.
The statement partly reads, “Having completed the replacement of the 12th expansion joint and to demobilise the superstructure of the Third Mainland Bridge, the Lagos State Government will shut down the bridge from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday.
“The total closure of the bridge was slated to enable the contractors to move the equipment used during the rehabilitation process off the bridge completely to allow both the Oworonshoki and Adeniji bound lanes to open fully to traffic.”
He added that traffic management personnel would be deployed along the affected routes to minimise and address any traffic impediments during the closure.
