Residents of Ijegun Egba Community, Satellite Town, in Ori-Ade Local Council Development Area, LCDA, Lagos, on Thursday, raised an alarm over suspected gas leakage from one of the gas farms in the area.

The situation, said to have been reported at noon has set the community in commotion as residents feared for dear lives.

The alarm was sequel to notification by Chairman, Satellite Town Forum, whose name was unavailable at press time, of a strong cloud like vapour, suspected to be gas leakage in the community coming from one of the gas farms, Rainoil Depot.

According to the chairman, “The offensive gas smell has enveloped small part of the Community that residents at home are panicking.

“The relevant regulatory agencies should call on Rainoil tankfarm management to ensure that there should be no fire outbreak as result of this in the community due to Gas Vapour Clouds in Ijegun Egba, Satellite Town.

“We at Satellite Town Forum, is hereby calling on DPR to carry out proper investigation on this gas leakage that happened around 1.05 pm today.

“We at Satellite Town Forum hereby advise that Lagos State Fire Service and Federal Fire Service should kindly carry out thorough investigations that lead to this gas linkage which happened today 24th June 2021.”
