… Wife and mother willing pleads for mercy

… Says husband is all she has in life

A stepfather, Mr. Isaiah Udoh, has been exposed for sexually harassing his 10 years old stepdaughter (name withheld) in the last one year at Olateju Street, Mushin area of Lagos.

Udoh was said to have met his waterloo when his son (name withheld) decided to speak out after he caught him in the act severally during the COVID-19 lockdown.

According to the survivor’s brother, who is age 13, the alleged perpetrator constantly abused the survivor by asking her to help him suck dirt out of his manhood (private) until I reported to my mummy what he was doing.”

He adds: “Most times my daddy would threaten my sister so she would not tell anyone or would maltreat her just as he was maltreating me.”

When LagosToday spoke with the mother, Mrs. Eny, she expressed that the husband was exposed in the lockdown. “I always go to work and leave the children with him. I had no idea. It was my son that told me when I returned that he saw what daddy was doing to his sister”.

Because her stepfather didn’t cease to threaten her when she tried to report, she endured until her stepbrother saved her. “Her stepbrother, my son, reported to me how he had discovered since the lockdown started”.

When asked if she wanted her husband to be punished for his crime, Mrs. Eny pleaded soberly, “He is the only one I have in this life. Since I took my daughter from her father, this stepfather has been taking good care of us – her school fees and everything. He is a very good man. This is the only mistake he just made. I don’t know what pushed him. Please.”

The mother and the child are currently getting prepared to report at Zone D police station, Isolo Road Mushin.

Meanwhile, the mother told our correspondent that she and a child advocacy NGO took her daughter to the hospital for medical checkup. She expressed, “The doctors told me my daughter is fine medically, no disease.”

“I have also advised my daughter to scream out if anyone tried to touch any part of her body. She should be shouting ole ! ole ! (thief in Yoruba) until people come.”

She lamented, however, in a meek manner, “My husband is a very good man. It is just this mistake he made. He is the only one we have taking care of everything. I don’t have any money.”
