The Lagos State Government has provided 1017 primary schools across the states with a first aid box each.
The first aid box which would be distributed by the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board contained first aid items such as; iodine, paracetamol, moko lubricant, hand gloves, glucose, and other medical supplies needed for first aid treatment.
The LASUBEB Chairman, Mr. Wahab Alawiye-King, who was represented by board member in charge of Quality Assurance, Mr Dayo Israel, at the presentation/distribution of the boxes to the schools in Lagos, expressed his delight in the fact that children would now have access to basic healthcare in their various school.
“This is the beginning of equipping sickbays in our own schools. We are concerned about the safety of our children. We try to see that our children receive healthcare support. We will maintain and use them for the safety of our children and our schools. Every school gets one box and sanitizers.”
Another board member in charge of Co-curricular Activities, Mrs. Sherifat Adedoyin, said efforts were being made to ensure that the government continuously refills the first aid boxes when the contents get exhausted. She hinted that there were plans to also train health officers periodically.
