Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja on Wednesday convicted and sentenced a businessman,
Olumuyiwa Williams, to two years imprisonment for his involvement in a N109m fraud.
Justice Taiwo convicted Williams alongside his company, Manhattan Corporation Essentials Limited over a three-count amended charge of stealing and conspiracy to commit felony to wit, stealing brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The convict pleaded not guilty to the charges when he was arraigned prompting commencement of trial.
During the course of the trial, the EFCC prosecutor, Spife Owede, called four witnesses and tendered several documentary evidences to prove the case against the convicts.
Williams testified in his own defence and did not call any other witness. In her judgement, Justice Taiwo held that the prosecution proved the case of conspiracy to steal and stealing against the convicts beyond all reason doubt.
