A lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency 1 has said that fasting during Ramadan the period of Ramadan has Social, Spiritual, Moral and Health advantages.
Tobun who made this known in an interview,
said the social advantage of fasting is that it enables the rich to have a feel about what it means to be hungry so that when the poor cry of hunger, the rich would be able to appreciate and assist promptly.
He stated further that the spiritual advantage
of fasting is that “It makes you to be closer to God as well as abstain from immoral acts such as alcohol and womanising while the health implications is that it helps to clear junks from the stomach as the arteries and pancreas in the system would have less work to do in terms of digestion of food.
“When you eat less, it regulates the system,
the bowel will be empty and arteries and pancreas will work normally,” he declared.
He also pointed out that corruption has been allowed to thrive such that some Nigerians are in a hurry to get rich quickly due to the transfer of military psyche into governance whereby the government was not held accountable.
According to Tobun, “The country has been
militarised such that out of the 21 years of democratic government, two Ex-Generals ruled Nigeria for 16 years adding that the toga of military cannot be completely removed from these two ex-generals.”
