Social media has been awash with tales of Nigerian tourists who encountered unfortunate unforeseen mishaps at hotels where they had lodged on their tourist trips. The most harrowing was the story of Ms. Zainab Adehinde.
On Saturday, April 16, 2022, she told the terrifying story of being nearly raped inside her hotel room in Zanzibar, Tanzania, where she had gone to celebrate her 23rd birthday.
On her Twitter page, Zainab narrated that she arrived in the country on April 16, 2021, and that by the night of April 17 into her birthday, April 18, a man had broken into her room, which she was certain was locked, and attempted to rape her.
She described her terror as she imagined the man raping, killing, and disposing of her body in the body of water in front of the hotel.
According to her, she pretended to be an HIV patient and told him that if he wore a condom, he could have sex with her.
Zainab went on to say that the man left her hotel and promised to return with a condom, but before he did, she ran out and spent the night in the room of a Russian couple she had met earlier at the hotel.
When she returned to her room after unsuccessful calls to the hotel’s management and the Nigerian Embassy, she discovered that her $1100 had been stolen from her room.
The Nigerian tourist also claimed that the hotel staff attempted to conceal the incident and accused her of lying.
Despite the fact that the suspect had confessed to the crime, Zainab claimed that the police intimidated her and chased her out of their station.
The CEO of Kahera travels, Kechi Richard Seidu who commented on the issue, stated that Kahera Travels has measures in place to ensure that her clients have seamless, hassle-free, secure, luxurious, and fun-filled vacations.
“Our clients’ safety is of the utmost importance to us,” she said.

She also advised tourists to always seek advice from travel companies before embarking on trips, especially when it is the first time they are embarking on such travels.
