The presidential election petition tribunal sitting at the Court of Appeal in Abuja has adjourned its sitting to Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 2 pm prompt.
On Monday, May 8, the tribunal headed by Justice Haruna Tasammani commenced proceedings in Abuja regarding the matters brought before it challenging the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and his counterpart in the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi are challenging the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the February 25 presidential poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Tribunal also adjourned the petition between Action Peoples Party, APP and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC and INEC on same date.
The Tribunal adjourn till Tuesday to hear the petition between Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and INEC, APC and Kabiru Masari.
Earlier, Action Alliance (AA) withdraw their petition against the President-elect and INEC. The panel of judges which includes Justice Stephen Ada, Justice Mistura Bolaji Yusuf, Justice Boloukouromo Moses Ugo, and Justice Abba Mohammed accepted the withdrawal of the petition.
Meanwhile, Justice Haruna has warned against bringing new grounds or technicalities again when the main hearing start on Wednesday.
INEC declared Tinubu as president-elect after he scored 8,794,726 votes during the February Presidential election. Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 6,984,520 at the poll while Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi got 6,101,533 votes.
