The Lagos State Government, on Thursday, unveiled live camera update infrastructure to effectively manage traffic in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the unveiling at the Radio House, Agidingbi, Ikeja, said the live camera update would enhance the free flow of traffic for Lagos residents, adding that it would also address the challenges faced by traffic managers in the state.

Represented by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Sanwo-Olu  said, “The live camera update infrastructure enhances the capacity of the radio station to provide timely, reliable, accurate and dynamic information reportage and travel advisory to teeming Lagosians. This event is of utmost importance because it is a testament to the government’s commitment to deploying state-of-the-art technology to provide efficient service delivery.

“As a result of this commitment, which is in line with the Smart City project, we have achieved significant improvement in addressing operational challenges in several areas including traffic management, health care service, land management, urban planning and law enforcement,” he said.

He added, “The technology will address challenges ranging from collating information, inaccurate update delivery by our LASTMA officials, and the ever-changing dynamism of traffic information which still subsists.

“The digital cameras will help to get live updates which will encourage real-time traffic reportage from the live cameras situated at strategic locations across the state.”
