The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has urged Nigerians to disregard ongoing social media messages on free registration of business names and companies.

The commission issued the warning in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) adding that such could not have emanated from them.

“Please, disregard any SMS or WhatsApp message asking you to enrol for free CAC registration, as it is not from us! Thank you,” CAC posted.

Also, the Registrar General/CEO of the commission, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji (SAN), vowed to remove encumbrances to staff performance when he visited the Lagos office of the CAC in continuation of his interactive meetings with staff.

Accompanied by the Head of Public Affairs/Deputy Director, Dominic O. Inyang, the CAC boss was received by the Head of Lagos Office/Assistant Director, Mabuyaku Oritsematosan Joan, who conducted him around the facilities at the office, according to a statement by the commission yesterday.

Magaji emphasised that the visit will afford him the opportunity to hear firsthand their challenges and experiences on the job and provide immediate solutions where possible.
