A Nigerian politician and activist, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi, has called on the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, to probe the procurement agency regarding the procurement saga in the state.
Princess Abiodun said if such is not timely done, Nigeria as a country will get a bad image as other countries in the world are patiently looking for the next line of action.
The daughter of the late Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom made this known to journalists in Lagos.
Oyefusi explained that investors will be discouraged and disenchanted and Nigeria will be seen as lawless without accountability and transparency
She said such action is expected of the legislative arm of government, as this justifies the existence of separation of powers and consequent checks and balances.
Meanwhile, the politician stated that no penny of taxpayers’ money should be used for selfish reasons.
“Based on the recent procurement saga in the state, I would like to call on the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly to probe the procurement agency, as the issue is disturbing and uncalled for.
“This is because if such is not timely done, Nigeria as a country will get a bad image as other countries in the world are patiently looking for the next line of action.
“In fact, the so-called investors we are trying to woo both in Lagos as a state and Nigeria as a country will be discouraged and disenchanted, and Nigeria will be seen as lawless without accountability and transparency. So, who wants to do business with that kind of person or entity?
“This action is expected and incumbent upon the legislative arm of government, as this justifies the existentialism of separation of powers and consequently checks and balances,” she said.
Meanwhile, the politician stated that no penny of taxpayer money should be used for selfish reasons, as it is against the law.
