Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appealed to individuals, institutions, and organisations to support National Youth Service Corps members to serve their fatherland and make a positive impact during their service year.
Sanwo-Olu made the appeal on Thursday at the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise for the 2023 Batch C, Stream 2 members, at the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos.
He also charged the new corps members to exhibit discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and other lessons learnt during the orientation course.
Sanwo-Olu said in his address: “I call on all Lagosians, institutions, and organisations to accord our young, vibrant, and energetic compatriots a warm welcome; let us give them the support and encouragement that they will require to enjoy a memorable service year.
“As you bid farewell to the orientation camp and proceed to your various primary assignments, you must recognise the significance of this programme in fostering national unity.
“The orientation camp has been a microscopic representation of Lagos State, a melting pot of cultures, languages, and traditions, and, as you have experienced firsthand, the strength that comes from diversity.”
