A Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba has remanded a 22-year-old artisan, Mr. Onyekachi Agu, yesterday, for bathing his girlfriend and another person, alleged to be her lover, with acid. He is to remain there while he awaits the court sentence on July 27.
The Presiding Judge, Chief Magistrate Ms. A.O Adedayo ordered that Agu be remanded in a Correctional Centre, after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder and causing grievous harm.
Adedayo adjourned the case until July 27 for facts and sentence.
The Prosecutor, ASP Roman Unuigbe, told the court that Mr. Agu committed the offence on July 3 at Gangare Hotel, Mile 12, Lagos.
He said that the Agu had traced his girlfriend and her other suspected lover to a hotel and poured the acid on them.
The Prosecuting counsel said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 230 and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
