Emergency responders battled to put out a raging fire that gutted a manufacturing firm at Abule Osun, Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area, Ojo, Lagos.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire gutted the firm, JOSIEN Complex in the early hours of Friday.

Several items were said to have been destroyed in the process, while men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, and Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, LASEMA, and Nigeria Police are on the ground on a rescue mission.

As of press time, there was neither record of death nor injury in the incident.

Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, said the situation has been put under control.

The fire which started at about 8.20 am, affected a warehouse storing diapers, solar batteries, foreign charcoal, and massaging seats within the JOSIEN factory complex.

As of the time of filing this report, the immediate cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, as the warehouse was locked at the time the incident occurred.

“Goods and properties worth millions of naira were damaged in the incident. However, a significant quantity of goods equally worth millions of naira were salvaged by the LASEMA rescue team during the operation.

“Strategic, collaborative efforts were deployed to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent warehouses,” Oke-Osanyitolu stated.
