Apple is reportedly gearing up to release a more affordable version of its Vision headset, with the price expected to be around $2,000, according to a recent report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This new device, set to launch as early as next year, will aim to expand Apple’s presence in the mixed reality market, a space where the company’s high-end $3,500 Vision Pro has yet to make a significant impact.
To achieve the lower price point, Apple plans to use more affordable materials, a less powerful processor, and will omit the EyeSight feature, which currently allows others to see the user’s eyes while they wear the headset. Despite these changes, the new device is expected to offer a comparable mixed reality experience that combines digital elements with the real world.
Beyond the Vision headset, Apple is reportedly planning further product expansions in the mixed reality space. A second-generation Vision Pro could be on the horizon for 2026, followed by smart glasses and even AirPods equipped with cameras by 2027, according to Gurman’s report.
In addition to its mixed reality ambitions, Apple is also exploring ways to strengthen its smart home offerings. The company is said to be working on an affordable, iPad-like screen that can be placed around the home for watching TV, making FaceTime calls, and running apps. This would be followed by a more advanced tabletop device with a robotic arm, which could carry a price tag of around $1,000.
While Apple hasn’t yet made significant inroads into either the mixed reality or smart home markets, these new developments suggest the tech giant is far from slowing down in its efforts to innovate across multiple fronts.
