The Lagos State Examinations Board has released the schedule for its 2025 Trade Test examination, designed to assess the competency and skill levels of artisans and technicians operating across the state.
Operating under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, the board revealed that the assessment exercise will evaluate participants’ proficiency across multiple vocational disciplines.
Mr Orunsolu Adebayo, Director and Registrar of the Lagos State Examinations Board, emphasized the significance of the examination in driving economic growth within the state.
“The Trade Test remains a vital instrument in enhancing productivity, employment opportunities, and socio-economic development in Lagos State,” Adebayo stated.
The examination will assess competencies across several trade categories, including tailoring, electrical installation, carpentry, and hairdressing, among others.
According to Adebayo, this year’s Trade Test has been structured into three distinct grades to accommodate varying levels of professional expertise. Candidates will be examined under Grade III, Grade II, and Grade I classifications.
The theoretical component of the examination is scheduled for October 18, while the practical assessment will take place on October 21.
The board has designated four examination centres across the state to facilitate the exercise. These include Government Technical College, Ikotun; Government Technical College, Epe; the Skill Acquisition Centre in Egbeda; and the Lagos State Examinations Board headquarters.
Adebayo urged qualified artisans and technicians throughout the state to prepare thoroughly for the examination, highlighting it as an important avenue for obtaining formal certification of their professional capabilities.
“We are committed to continuously supporting vocational and technical education as a cornerstone of sustainable development and youth empowerment,” the director affirmed.
