Perez would be looking to bounce back as soon as possible.

It has been confirmed that Racing point/Mercedes driver, Sergio Perez who is currently 6th on the drivers standing this season has tested positive to COVID-19. It was confirmed on Thursday evening that the result from the retest conducted on Perez’s sample which initially came out as inconclusive has now been confirmed positive.

This automatically means that the Mexican driver, Perez, has been ruled out of this weekends’s British Grand Prix and most likely the next weekend’s race as it would be coming up at the same venue.
The Racing Point/Mercedes team have come out with a statement and it suggests that the the Mexican driver Sergio Perez is very well physically and in good spirits and he is presently in isolation.

He would be getting the best of care and looking forward to getting back as soon as possible, also a group of team members that have come in close contact with Perez lately have been isolated and there was no cause for alarm as adequate contact tracing and tracking is in place to contain the virus.

The team would go on to race with two drivers this weekend at the Silverstone as planned.
Sergio Perez becomes the first F1 driver to test Positive for COVID-19.

It would be recalled that the F1 season was called off and put on hold at the Australian Grand which was billed to be the very 1st Grand Prix event of the season, when a Mc Laren team official tested positive.

WHAT DOES A DRIVER TESTING POSITIVE MEANS FOR THE BRITISH GRAND PRIX THIS WEEKEND

A driver testing positive pre race weekend does not affect the event as race would still go on as planned, only the members of the Racing Point team that have had close contact with Sergio Perez would be isolated and would not play any part in the weekend’s British Grand Prix.

WHAT DOES SERGIO PEREZ TESTING POSITIVE MEANS FOR RACING POINT

The racing point team would go ahead and present two drivers to race this weekend at the British Grand Prix, Lance Stroll is of course available to race and also either of the reserve drivers, Stoffel Vandoorne and Esteban Gutierrez can be named as an emergency replacement for Perez till he makes a full recovery and he is passed fit to make a return to racing in this ongoing season.

No doubt the Racing point have a very crucial decsion to make in the coming hours as a replacement needs to be named as soon as possible ahead of the practise seesions for the British Grand Prix.
Here is to wish Sergio Perez a speedy recovery.
