• Accused of sexually abusing the teenager since age 13
A self-acclaimed cleric and father of four in his 50s, Stephanos Lucky Enofe popularly known as Bishop Steph Enofe, is set to wed a 15-year-old girl (name withheld) on Saturday September 12 this year at 8 Makinde Street, Mushin area of Lagos after performing the traditional rites.
Enofe, who is the founder of the Spirit of Grace (SOG) Ministry, is said to have done the traditional rites of the teenager despite knowing strict laws against minor/underage marriage in Nigeria and Lagos State especially.
The teenager is said to be in Junior Secondary School (JSS2). A reliable source account has it that the teenager is an ardent member of Enofe’s church.
“The teenager is his second wife. He went for an underage child after his first wife and mother of four children packed out of his house and refused every reconciliatory advance for over three years,” the source divulged.
According to the girl’s father, Mr. Joseph Ukandu, Bishop Enofe, prior to his illicit marriage to the girl, confessed that he started having sex with the teenager since she was only 13 years old.
The Lagos Today learnt that currently the child-bride has already moved into Enofe’s residence as his wife since August 28 this year after all the traditional wedding rites were performed.
It was also gathered that preparation is in full swing for them to tie the nuptial knot at the altar for their church wedding.
This is as child rights experts from the Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN) in Lagos is set to avert any form of child marriage and all forms of rape and defilement.
