The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the gruesome shooting and killing of 35 years old Kayode Olorunroba at AVID Sharwama Spots, Alagbado area of the state on Friday September 11.
The suspects are: the owner of the Sharwama Spot, Chimezie Amaechi; friend of the deceased, Okikiola Kazeem; the Manager of AVID Bar, Olayinka Oyedokun; Femi Victor; Taiwo Morokola, and Omole Wasiu.
The victim, who was a resident of 3, Werewere Street, Alagbado, was killed last Friday September 11 at the Sharwama spot around 9:30pm after a heated argument ensued between him and a yet-to-be identified customer.
In a statement by the State Police Spokesman, SP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the incident occurred when the deceased had an altercation at the spot with another customer, who is now at large.
“After the shooting, Kayode’s friend and witness, Okikiola Kazeem, who had earlier called him to join him at the Sharwama spot refused to report the incident to the police,” he explained.
Adejobi said rather than report the incident, Kazeem took the victim to a herbalist in Ogun State where the pellets were extracted.
“He later took Kayode to his brother’s house at Ipaja Area of Lagos State, where the deceased gave up the ghost,” the PRO narrated.
As a follow up on the incident, the Commissioner of Police Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, directed police detectives to mobilise and haunt the suspects linked to the murder.
The detectives, acting on the instructions of the CP, arrested the six suspects.
The PRO said they were arrested in the course of investigation. He added, “These suspects are giving useful information that can assist the police in the investigation.”
Adejobi noted, however, that the CP ordered the State CID, Panti, to take over the case for discreet investigation.
“The CP has reiterated his commitment to rid Lagos State of crimes and criminality with the support of all and sundry in the state,” the PRO said.
