Lagos State Government has assured residents that the ongoing construction of a road with bridge project linking Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area and Ojodu Local Government Area of the state will be completed in the second quarter of year 2024, precisely, in May.
The project, according to the state government, was in furtherance to the efforts of the state government to improve connectivity and consolidate the transportation pillar of the THEMES+ Agenda, of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration.
Speaking during an inspection of the project, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Infrastructure, Engineer Ayodele Somide, said the road with bridge project which was embarked upon to prevent flooding, improve the environmental status of the communities around and to provide an effective by-pass to traffic gridlock has attained 63 per cent completion.
While he described the road as a strategic link from College Road through Ajayi Street, Ogba to Aruna/Obawole/Iju-Ishaga in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area and Ojodu Local Government, said upon completion, the project is expected to improve interconnectivity of roads within the axis.
According to Somide, the contractors have completed the piling works, 28 piles+1 relief pile with the pile caps in place while the piers and the pier caps as well as the abutment walls are all completed.
According to him; “With the final launch and installation of the precast beam/girders that was done today, the project is moving closer towards the completion of the road and bridge works.
“Overall, the project (Bridge and Road works) is currently at 63% completion and the contractor promised to deliver the project by the end of May 2024.”
