International African female talking drummer, Aralola Olamuyiwa, has embarked on free medical check-ups for traders and street boys in the Ketu area of Lagos State.
Ara, as fondly called said the medical outreach was a project under her initiative, “Eko Inspire Me”, to assist and help the less privileged medically as the year comes to an end.
She noted that the beneficiaries are people in dire need of medical attention, adding that most of them are not capable financially to access medical attention.
Ara explained that the medical outreach includes free eye tests, diabetes, malaria and blood pressure.
She said, “Today is a free medical outreach for the beneficiaries and their families who are close by. We realised that, even for people living in good conditions and environments, there are health challenges, not to talk about these people whose condition of living is terrible and a lot of factors contribute to that. Apart from medical, and psychological ones.
“We’ve come to the end of the year and we think that it’s a good way to end the year by reaching out to those in need.
“We are giving them free eye tests, diabetes, malaria, blood pressure etc and we follow up with those who need eyeglasses. You can see how our old people are here benefitting. It’s a form of giving back, to me and one of my ways of thanking God.”
Ara, however, called on well-meaning Nigerians to make donations to the cause to help the needy.
She added, “Between October 19 and December 20 that we unveiled, we have achieved a lot to the glory of God Almighty. The speed we have gained, things we’ve been able to achieve can only be God.”
