The Federal Government has resolved plans to initiate total lockdown in 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) over rising cases of COVID-19.
Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this to journalists after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari of the situation at the State House.
He said the LGAs are responsible for at least 60 per cent of the total number of cases across the country.
According to him, Nigeria has not reached its peak and with 39 molecular labs, the number of infections would continue to rise.
He, therefore, asked all local authorities including religious and traditional leaders to ensure compliance with non-pharmaceutical interventions.
