The Niger State governor, Abubakar Bello, has stated that the Central Bank of Nigeria’s cash policy and redesigning of the naira have brought untold hardship to the people.
Bello made this known in a statement issued by the Secretary of the State Government, Ibrahim Matane, in Minna, the state capital on Thursday.
He stated that the shortage of cash in circulation had resulted in the closure of businesses in the state, especially in rural areas.
“Due to the shortage of cash in circulation and lack of the newly redesigned notes which resulted to the closure of rural markets and several shops in the urban cities thereby causing hardship.”
Bello further stated that the citizens have in the last few days experience face the most difficult challenges in trying to comply with the policy.
“Government is aware that the situation has been the most difficult experience in the last few days as many Nigerlites have encountered challenges in going about the process.”
He also stated that the scarcity of the redesigned naira notes is the policy affecting the people the more.
Governor Sani Bello is deeply moved by the attendant consequences of the policy which has been affecting the citizens, especially the scarcity of the naira note.
Bello sympathised with the people while assuring them that the state government is working round the clock to mitigate the hardship so that normalcy would resume.
