The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Monday said the clean-up of the entire Blue Line/BRT Corridor on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway is still on.
Wahab confirmed this in a post on X where the Commissioner also said that the work has reached Okokomaiko inward Badagry and is now back to ‘inward Orile’ on the other side.
He added that continuous monitoring continues on Alaba Rago and other places that have been cleared.
“The work is still ONGOING. The Special Squad leading the clean-up is led by ACP Bayo Suleiman,” Wahab said.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government had increased train trips from 12 to 54 since October 16, 2023.
The government also said it is targeting 74 trips before the end of November on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line (Marina to Mile 2).
Passenger operation of the first phase of the LRMT Blue Line was launched by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on September 4, 2023.
It is projected that passenger movement between Marina and Mile 2 in the coming months will surpass 150,000 passengers daily.
The Lagos Government also pledged to be strict and swift in dealing with anyone caught damaging the Blue Line rail across the state.
The Blue Line is one of the six rail lines and one monorail proposed for Lagos in the state’s Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP).
