The Federal High Court in Abuja, Friday, ordered that the former Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team, Abulrasheed Maina, be remanded in correctional centre till the end of his trial.
Justice Okon Abang gave the order after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) prosecution counsel, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar filed an application.
In his ruling, Justice Abang said, “The defendant is already on bench warrant having jumped bail.
“So he shall be remanded in correctional centre pending the conclusion of the trial.”
The EFCC is prosecuting Maina on a N2bn money laundering charge.
The defendant was produced in court for the first time on Friday after he was extradited to Nigeria from Niger Republic on Thursday, December 3.
The defence lawyer, Adaji Abel, appealed to the judge to adjourn the case for him to prepare adequately.
The judge has adjourned the case till Tuesday, December 8 this year
