• 16-year-old threatens to report if they didn’t allow him defile the child
A father’s friend, simply identified as Uncle Seun, alongside six other minors have allegedly raped a seven-year-old girl (name withheld) in Ayobo area of Lagos State, as four have been arrested and cooling off at Panti, Yaba while others are being haunted.
While Uncle Seun is a friend of the survivor’s father, the six other suspects, who are neighbours and playmates, are all between ages 16 and 12.
They were said to have sexually abused the minor on different occasions. The crime, however, came to light when the minor opened up and mentioned the names of the suspects to the police on Saturday August 15 this year after the parents reported.
Confirming the arrest of Uncle Seun, the State Police Spokesman, SP Bala Elkana, told The Lagos Today that four among the seven suspects had been arrested and transferred to Panti.
“We were told that the mother of the little girl would abandon her at home. She had time to play with many kids and neighbours around the house. So, at different times, some of those kids defiled her,” the PPRO said.
According to him, the 16 years old boy came into the picture after he bumped into the other kids defiling the child.
“He told them if they didn’t want him to report, they should let him defile the child, too. He also defiled the child in the process,” he said.
He disclosed to The Lagos Today that the little girl, however, mentioned the names of all the boys that defiled her. “That was how they were picked.”
“I have not gotten the update yet if the others have been arrested as we speak. Investigation is ongoing,” he hinted.
While all efforts to speak with parents of the survivor proved abortive, it was noted that the girl is currently being attended to at Mirabel Medical Centre, and LASUTH, Ikeja.
