There was confusion in the early hours of Wednesday at the international wing of Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, due to a fire outbreak in a section of the primary gateway airport.
According to a report from Nigerian Tribune, it was gathered that the inferno originated from a malfunctioning cable on the Tarmac.
Allegedly, the fire had already damaged a portion of the FAAN administrative office the previous night.
“All passengers and staff were asked to evacuate the building while the Lagos State Fire service was on hand to complement that of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).”
The last reported case of fire incident was in March 2022 when fire engulfed a section of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos complex on a Wednesday.
Sources at the airport confirmed that the incident occured at the departure hall of Kenyan airways at 6:58am.
