…Lists achievement in last one year
The Speaker of the House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila, has assured his constituents of its unflinching commitment to pay 50 per cent hazard allowance for health workers at Randle Hospital in Surulere Lagos.
The speaker made this pledge while interacting with constituents like State House Lawmaker Desmond Elliot and others via zoom Town Hall meeting on Wednesday June 23.
While giving account of his stewardship in the last one year, the speaker noted that a lot of community development projects were commissioned in the constituency.
The commissioned projects are: rehabilitation of inner roads; provisions of solar street lights in places like Esther Dada Ishaga link road, Yesufu Sanusi Street, Odeku Close of Adeniran Ogunsanya, and Falolu Street of Akerele, among others.
He went on: “About N22 million cash relief was provided for vulnerable members of the constituency as well as food bags to 16,300 households as COVID-19 palliatives.”
Gbajabiamila further said he distributed textbooks and reading materials to junior and senior secondary school students; commissioned a fully equipped ICT centre building in Stadium High School, Iyun road; laptops and desktop computers were also given to outstanding students from 23 secondary schools in Surulere.
“Also I have ensured the sum of N43 million was given as cash grants to existing small scale entrepreneurs and 23 Toyota salon cars were distributed to constituents who had expressed interest in providing ride hiking services,” the speaker added.
In one year, he told the constituents, “12 buses were distributed to notable organisations in Surulere such as market women associations, religious bodies, and the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).
Counting his achievements, he listed some upcoming projects he facilitated for Surulere: the commissioning of Elizabeth Fowler Memorial School; Surulere Free Wi-Fi project; N40m Covid-19 cash grants to petty traders and artisans in the constituency; N70m CBN Flexible loan for SMEs.
Others are: Rehabilitation of 52 inner roads across all the wards; installation of new power sub-station at Randle Hospital among many others.
Present at the online interactive session were: Desmond Elliot representing Surulere 1 State Constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly; the Chief Medical Director of Randle General Hospital, Dr. Aduke Odutayo; and the leader of legislative council in Surulere.
