Goods Worth Millions Ashed As Another Fire Seizes Lagos’ Mushin Market

Several millions of Naira worth in goods were razed down, Saturday, by a fire that blazed in the foam section of the Ladipo Market at Mushin, Lagos.
The fire started around 1:00 p.m. at a number 16, Ladipo Street.
The city’s emergency management agency has also confirmed the incident.
Mr. Nosa Okunbor of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), however, announced that no casualty had been recorded.
According to the agency, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Recall that, in January, a fatal fire burned down tens of houses and warehouses in the Amu Plank trade area at the same Mushin environment.
Four days after that, the famous Balogun market at the Lagos Island area also recorded another fatal fire incident.
While the state’s emergency management have mostly attributed these fires to human errors, such as storing of fuel, or leaving of electrical appliances on, and so on, it is only pictorial of the unpreparedness and unresponsiveness of fire prevention facilities and services in the markets and other public areas around the city.
