WhatsApp has surpassed over a billion global users, currently. One fundamental advantage of the social medium is its virtual chat rooms, otherwise known as group chats. It has solidified convenient large-scale communication, as a single chat room houses a maximum of 257 people and there are no limits to the number of group chats one can have on a device.
But there are limits on who can add a person to a group chat.
Over the years, most individuals find themselves added into unwanted group chats, by unknown contacts, and being fed a chunk of spam, every day.
‘Measures’
The tech giant has crafted some self-service on the app to enable consumers deactivate a setting that can give them some autonomy over who adds them to group chats and also over their peace of mind.
- Launch the app
- Navigate to the settings Tab. Then, click on the Accounts Tab
- Click on Privacy
- Tap on Groups
- Here, you would see three contacts: ‘Everyone’, ‘My Contacts’ and ‘My Contacts Except’.
- Here, choose ‘My Contacts Except’ and tap on the tick icon from the right corner.
So, in this age where we have to be careful about cyber security, it is important to always keep our group conversations private, by avoiding being added to multiple group chats.
