Iheanacho Set to Replace Chukwueze as Super Eagles Chase Victory in Crucial AFCON Match
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Kelechi Iheanacho could finally make his 2023 AFCON bow in place of Samuel Chukwueze in a final must-win Group A match as the Super Eagles go for goals against Guinea Bissau today.

Iheanacho has shrugged off a muscular injury to be considered against Chukwueze, who was tentative after he started against AFCON hosts Cote d’Ivoire Thursday ahead of Moses Simon.

Leicester City striker Iheanacho, who has declared himself “100% fit”, has shone in training with goals and a good all-round performance.

However, ‘Senior man’ has yet to get any game minutes at this tournament after two rounds of matches.

Coach Jose Peseiro has tasked his team to be more clinical in front of goal and hopes they will do so against bottom team Guinea Bissau.

A big win over the Wild Dogs, who they battled against in the AFCON qualifiers, will ensure the Super Eagles win Group A notwithstanding the result of the other Group A clash between hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.
