The Lagos State Government is set to display the draft final report on the Ikorodu Sub-Region Master Plan for public inspection and stakeholder contributions.
Speaking on the modalities of the public display exercise on Friday in Alausa, Ikeja, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr. Idris Salako disclosed that the public display would take place for 28 days in 12 different centres across the state.
It will run from Monday August 24 to Wednesday September 30 this year.
According to him, the display centres include Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) district office along Beach Road, Ikorodu and the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja as well as LASPPPA headquarters, Old Secretariat, Ikeja.
“The Report will also be on display at the Secretariats of Ikosi-Isheri, Agboyi-Ketu, Ikorodu West, Ikorodu North, Igbogbo-Baiyeku, Ijede, Imota and Ikosi-Ejirin LCDAs”, he added.
Maintaining that the public display is in line with furthering the culture of citizens’ participation in the preparation of operative development plans, Salako averred that the exercise would afford members of the public the opportunity to inspect and submit comments on the draft final report of the Ikorodu Sub-Region Master Plan.
He stressed that the input of the people was germane to the sustainability of any development plan and urged members of the affected Local Government Areas to visit the various inspection venues between 9.00 am and 4.00 pm on the designated days (working days only) to examine the report and submit their observations.
The commissioner, however, reiterated that the goal of the Master Plan was to harness the special characteristics and environmental sustainability of the Ikorodu Sub-Region to engender sustainable future growth and socio-economic development of Lagos State as the preferred investment destination in sub-Saharan Africa.
