… Asks Court To Bar Saraki From Contesting Any Elective Position
The ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, has filed a landmark lawsuit before a Federal High Court in Abuja, challenging the defection of some governors that were elected on its platform, but defected to the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
According to a reliable source, those whose defection from the APC is being challenged are Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state, Samuel Ortom of Benue state and Godwin Obaseki of Edo state.
The APC deemed it fit to file the lawsuit and unsettle the PDP following the latter filing a lawsuit against Ebonyi Governor, Dave Umahi and his Deputy for defecting to APC.
It was gathered from sources that the APC has already hired a sizeable number of Senior Advocates of Nigeria SANs for the job.
The party is also challenging the defection of the former Senate President Bukola Saraki who also defected from the APC to PDP, asking the court to bar him from contesting any elective position in the country for the next 30 years, as punishment for the defection.
It was also gathered that the consortium of lawyers hired for the job have since commenced the litigation process and will be in court on Monday.
