The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said that for event centres in the state to operate, one fifth of hall capacity is adequate. This is contained in the new safety guideline approved for the operation of event centres in the state.
Speaking during a social media live session over the weekend, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf said this criteria is necessary for the Hospitality and Tourism industry to kick off again.
According to her, “This criteria depends on the size of the event hall, one-fifth capacity is the normal occupancy level of each venue, and no matter how big a hall is, the guideline says it cannot take more than 500 persons.
Akinbile-Yusuf stressed that event centres are free to re-open for business provided they have registered with the state government through its newly introduced Register-to-Open initiative.
She noted that the initiative is to certify the safety preparedness of event centres before they are allowed to re-open for business activities.
