The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, for allegedly abducting a two-year-old boy in the Elemoro area of Lagos.
According to the police, the incident occurred on September 21, 2025, at about 11:50 p.m., when the child’s mother reported to Elemoro Division that her security guard had fled with her son and her mobile phone to an unknown location. The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the child’s father, demanding a ransom of ₦5 million for the boy’s release.
Police operatives from the Elemoro Division swiftly commenced investigations and launched a manhunt for the suspect. During the initial response, the child was released through the intervention of an intermediary, identified as Aruna Dauda. However, the search for the fleeing guard continued.
On September 23, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m., operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, tracked and arrested Kini at his hideout in the Elemoro area. The police confirmed that he confessed to the crime and is currently in custody. He will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
Reacting to the development, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, condemned the abduction, describing it as a disturbing act against the safety of children. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling violent and capital crimes across the state, while urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant.
Jimoh further appealed to members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines: 08063299264, 09053872208, and 08087332678.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, also reassured Lagos residents that the Command remains resolute in ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
