More than 30 men have been nabbed for various crimes in Lagos state ranging from cultism, impersonation to armed robbery.
This was made known on Friday when the Lagos State Police command paraded the suspects at its headquarters in Lagos.
This is as the State Police Command re-affirmed its resolve to solve the problem of criminality of any kind in the state.
Another parade of suspects by the Lagos State Police command for various offenses more than 30 of these men been apprehended from different parts of the state for offenses ranging from armed robbery to impersonation.
17 persons were arrested for cultism from different parts of Lagos State.
Part of the exhibits recovered from the suspects included vehicle, guns and other weapons with which they were said to have perpetrated their criminal acts.
The command made the display as a show of its effort to rid the state of crime and criminals but the police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin laments the effect of hard drugs intake on the security challenge in the state.
The command says it has identified cultism as the biggest problem we have in Lagos State in terms of crime and criminality and it’s not being helped by the fact that there is rampant drug abuse.
Most of these qualities, according to the command spokesman are heavily dependent on drug use.
There is also the problem of proliferation of small arms and light weapons which is beyond Nigeria.
The next step after the parade is for the police to charge them to court immediately.
The police command added that over a hundred criminals have been handed over for prosecution and more will still be prosecuted.
