Operatives of the Lagos State police have shut down Zeko Hotel at Ipaja area of Lagos over the mysterious death of one Mr. Emmanuel Ayuk found dead in his hotel room.
Ayuk, an indigene of Cross River State, was said to have been found dead unclad in his hotel room after he checked in on Sunday July 26 this year.
Following the unexplainable death, the CSP Tokunbo Aboniwonda of Ipaja Division led a team to the crime scene.
While the hotel has been temporarily shut down, the head of hotel management has been arrested and transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Panti, Yaba and for further investigation.
According to claims by the room service, Ayuk’s corpse was discovered days after they went to clean his room.
The police, however, noted that while Ayuk’s remains have been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy report, the police suspects foul play after the hotel management could not provide any useful information of the deceased.
Sources have it that no contact of Ayuk was found in the hotel’s registration form. No phone was found in the room to contact any member of his family, and no bag containing his belongings whatsoever.
The state police spokesman, SP Bala Elkana, who confirmed the unfortunate incident, said the matter was still under investigation and the outcome of the investigation will be made public.
