The Lagos State Government has said that it is set to embark on an energy audit of some state facilities, with the aim of creating a comprehensive master plan that will guide the state’s energy infrastructure.
The General Manager, Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB), Mr. Mukhtaar Tijani, said, yesterday, that the audit was necessary to provide the opportunity of assessing the current energy level and needs of the state, as well as foster development in clean energy resources.
According to him, the audit will further provide a means of expanding the capacity to meet the desired needs, as it will cut across all sectors of the state.
The LSEB boss said the first phase of the exercise has been completed at the state-owned healthcare facilities, educational institutions, waste management facilities, parks, water works, sports, theatres and cinemas across the five divisions of the state.
Tijani stressed that the audit would not be limited to government and public facilities but extended to private sector to harmonise all energy resources in the state.
He said part of efforts to improve the energy mix was the Lagos Solar project, which is an initiative that is focused on implementing stand-alone solar power solutions for public facilities.
