A student of the Lagos State University (LASU) Adeyeye Oluwatosin Babatubde Jnr, has been accused of sexual abuse of a minor after he shared a video of himself grossly kissing a little girl of about 5 years.
The video which Babatunde shared on his Facebook page, has since gone viral and caused a lot of outrage after the nation has woken up to the damages and deaths of sexually abused minors and teenage girls.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representative, Femi Gbajabiamila, on his Twitter account, @femigbaja, called on the nation to address cases of rape and sexual abuse.
He said: “We must address the rising cases of rape and sexual offences decisively as a country. This must not be the new normal. Security agencies must ensure the culprits do not go unpunished to serve as a deterrent. Beyond rhetorics, we must do better.”
The speaker’s clarion call is coming after the nation recorded an alarming rate of defilement and rape of minors, and teenagers, some of whom died in the process.
Sadly, while the nation is combating the COVID-19 pandemic and trying get back on her feet again, paedophiles across the country may have been taking advantage of the lockdown.
