The Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) has reiterated its commitment to the redevelopment of Adeniji-Adele Housing Estate on Lagos Island.
The General Manager, LASURA, Ms. Ajibike Shomade, disclosed this while receiving the executive members of the Estate Landlords Association, led by its Chairman, Elder Femi Adeotan, on a courtesy visit to the Agency.
Shomade stated that the agency would not relent in its efforts to ensure that the project takes off as soon as possible.
She explaining that at inception, the estate was not properly designed to accommodate modern facilities like an effective drainage system among others, thus resulting in its rapid degradation.
In her words, LASURA is planning to partner private developers to execute the project in phases in order to enhance the easy and smooth movement of residents of the estate.
“The Agency intends to redesign the buildings into five-storeys which would be easy to construct and maintain, unlike high rise buildings,” she adds.
While also disclosing that there would be a reconstruction of the Adeniji-Adele Road and all the roads in the estate, Shomade stressed that the drainage system and other infrastructure would be upgraded to complement the redevelopment project.
The Chairman of the Association, Adeotan thanked the GM for hosting the entourage and prayed for the success of the project, urging the agency to carry the association along in the process of redeveloping the estate.
The Association, on behalf of the estate residents, promised to render all necessary support to the agency for a successful completion of the project.
