Nigerian singer, Naira Marley, has accused actress Iyabo Ojo of libel and is seeking ₦500 million in damages along with a public apology.
In a letter dated December 12, 2023, Marley’s legal representative, Lekan Ojo, said the actress “defamed” his client in an Instagram post in September, 2023.
Naira Marley’s legal team also contended that the actress, a star on The Real Housewives of Lagos, implicated their client in the harm caused to the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa ‘Mohbad’ Aloba.
The lawyer further alleged that the actress’ comments led the public to believe that Marley played a role in Mohbad’s death.
Marley’s lawyer demanded that Ojo retract her statements within seven days of receiving the letter, warning of legal action if she failed to comply.
Additionally, they insisted that the apology be published on Ojo’s official Instagram account within the stipulated timeframe.
