In a bold move to drive Nigeria’s technology independence, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has partnered with Imose Technologies to launch a new line of locally manufactured laptops and tablets. This collaboration aligns with NASENI’s mission to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imports and position itself as a major force in the country’s tech landscape.
Khalil Halilu, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman, highlighted the partnership’s economic potential, noting, “At NASENI, we are building a national brand. Going forward, every household in Nigeria will have one NASENI product or another.” The new devices embody NASENI’s 3Cs principles—Collaboration, Creation, and Commercialisation—demonstrating a commitment to fostering homegrown technology solutions.
Partnering with Imose Technologies supports NASENI’s strategic goal of bridging Nigeria’s technological gap, a priority that includes strengthening local manufacturing. Osayi Izedonmwen, Chairman of Imose, emphasized the significance of this collaboration. “For the past decade, Imose has focused on solving uniquely Nigerian problems through local manufacturing. This partnership with NASENI brings us closer to bridging the digital divide and expanding technology access for education and the workplace,” he shared.
The initiative is also expected to drive job creation and local economic growth by establishing a stronger tech manufacturing base within Nigeria. By producing these devices domestically, NASENI and Imose aim to provide accessible, reliable technology that is essential to Nigeria’s progress in the digital economy.
This collaboration not only advances Nigeria’s self-reliance in technology but also strengthens its position in Africa’s burgeoning tech market. Through this initiative, NASENI and Imose aspire to transform Nigeria into a regional tech hub capable of meeting its own computing and electronics needs.
