on Covid-19 decision to halt the compulsory Covid-19 test for passengers entering Nigeria, has been hailed as a victory for Nigeria’s travel and tourism industry. Speaking to newsmen, Mrs Kechinyere, the MD/CEO of Kahera Travels, Nigeria’s leading luxury travel company, hailed the move as a win-win for the travel and tourism industry.
According to a revised travel protocol released by the Presidential Steering Committee on Covid-19, “Inbound passengers to Nigeria who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 are no longer required to carry out the compulsory COVID-19 PCR test before Nigeria-bound flights.
“Fully vaccinated passengers arriving Nigeria will not also be required to carry out post-arrival PCR test or a rapid antigen test upon arriving Nigeria.
“Children below the age of 18 years will be accorded the same privileges as persons who are fully vaccinated.”
She insists that the action was a positive step because most countries have already lifted all covid 19-related travel restrictions. The outbreak of covid 19 had a negative impact on many sectors of the economy, but the travel industry suffered the most as countries closed their borders and travel was generally restricted during the pandemic’s peak. As a result, the aviation, travel, and vacation industries all suffered great losses.
Mrs Kechinyere expressed relief that the worst of the pandemic appears to be over, and she hopes that the travel industry, which has been comatose for the past couple of years, will bounce back. “The pandemic had a significant impact on many businesses, particularly the travel and tourism industry; thankfully, the worst days are behind us, and we look forward to providing the best service for all of our clients’ travel and vacation needs,” she said.
According to her, the decision to suspend the mandatory test will result in more tourists visiting Nigeria, and the tourism industry, which has been harmed by the pandemic, will be given a new lease on life.
