Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged residents and visitors to participate in the E1 Lagos Grand Prix, Africa’s first all-electric powerboat championship, scheduled to take place in Lagos from October 3 to 5.
In a statement shared on his official social media platforms on Monday, the governor described the event as a defining moment for Lagos and the continent, noting that it underscores the state’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global relevance.
“The E1 Lagos Grand Prix is a demonstration of innovation and progress, showing how sport can inspire sustainable solutions for the future. It is also a celebration of the creativity and resilience that define our people,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He added that the championship would further showcase Lagos as a vibrant and dynamic city ready to embrace the future with confidence.
Sanwo-Olu encouraged the public to secure tickets via www.e1lagos.com, stressing that the event would spotlight Lagos and Africa on the global sporting stage.
Organisers of the initiative noted that the E1 Grand Prix, the world’s first electric powerboat championship, will feature the fastest electric raceboats on the planet. Lagos now joins elite host cities such as Monaco, Venice, and Jeddah, while simultaneously carving its own reputation as Africa’s aquatic capital.
